"A million different knots,

Connected, strengthened,

Working in unison

To catch even the

Strongest beast.

Woven together, interlaced,

Yet each joint free

To move as it may.

Rippling in the wind,

One purpose

From many differences.

Can we learn from a tool

Like the common net?

Where does individuality

Reach its limit,

And where does the collective

Begin its reign?

If the problem is the weakest link,

Should we not work to empower

That link until it competes

With its colleagues?

Lifting all to the same lofty heights?

So how now do we

Cut each other down?

Over what?

The color of our skin?

The form of our gender?

Is our net holy? Or holey?

For it wholly disturbs

Our true nature,

Towards peace, love, and joy.

Ripping the fabric

Of our living net until

The crows feast on

Its jagged remains,

And the disconnect waves

Wispily in the wind,

Ravaged by hatred and petty fools.

Should we not denounce

Those who would pull on those

Split ends,

Unraveling further the weaving

Of our society

And the underpinnings

Of our morals?

Should we not stand

Against those with

No respect for the

Weft and warp

Of all that is good,

And right, and just?

Those who use the

Bodies of others

As their stepping stones to the top?

Our rallying cry

Must be that of unity,

Duty, and destiny.

Repairing the net

So destroyed by evil and greed,

Until not even the smallest misdeed

Slips through our righteous vigil.

Until those who are different

Feel as if we are all the same,

One heart and one mind.

Until our souls have a

Positive net profit

In this negative world."

"I remember

When I first heard a person

Call my friend black.

I stopped.

And I stared

And my young mind said

No.

For his skin was not

Black.

It was

A perfect chocolate,

Rich and earthy

Like the purest coffee beans

From the African mountains.

Black?

No.

At the very least,

It was

A deep, proud brown,

At the most,

The proudest tones this earth

Has ever seen.

Not the color of ink,

Or coal,

Or a funeral.

And yellow?

Don’t even get me started.

Bananas are yellow.

People are not.

Yet another mistake,

In a long history of mistakes.

White and black,

Two opposites portrayed

As so different.

Like wolves in the night,

The unknown strangling viewpoints

As we balk in fear.

We peruse the news

And let it turn our views

When instead, we need to refuse

Because equality is our muse,

And is where we should get our cues,

To follow the clues,

Before everything is destroyed,

And we all lose.

Different? Such a word

That can be divisive

And incisive.

And yet it can hold so much beauty

And teach us those lessons

That we can’t learn in books.

And its power helps us become

Kings and queens

From lowly pawns.

So look to your brothers and sisters,

All worthy, all human,

Our differences flaunted

With pride,

Not haunted.

We need to reopen the stores

Of compassion and acceptance

Buried deep inside our weary hearts.

To see the joy in the different

Talents, and strengths,

And appearances.

And extend our hands

And our thoughts

And our very souls

To bridge such a gap

That the differences make."

"We witness a multitude

Of things every day.

Flailing through life

In our awkward way.

Opportunities to be good

Are always in play.

Yet opportunities to do bad

Tempt us to stay.

Why is hate so

Sustainable?

Why is equality

So unattainable?

How can we tether

Ourselves together?

How can we rise

As one strong wave,

To block out the craze

Of the prejudicial rave?

How many fleets

To clean the blood in the streets?

The blood that drips

From multicolored beats?

Melting pot?

Hah! I think not.

Unless you mean to melt

The darker skin that was dealt.

Equality forged in unity,

We wait for that opportunity,

Like hawks lasering at our prey,

Intently focused, come what may.

Grab the hands of your neighbor,

And hold them tight.

No matter what flavor,

We all sleep the same at night.

And when the cries come out,

Demanding justice,

Do we rise together,

Or retreat to hospice?

Have courage, dear friends,

And we shall yet deliver,

A grinning triumph,

Above this racial river.

And as the blood flows dearly,

We remember all martyrs,

Those who lost their lives,

Brothers, mothers, sisters, fathers.

Such fateful days do now arise

As we awaken the panthers,

Under these blood red skies.

We come together,

All different colors,

Unity in diversity,

Drown the haters with the lovers.

And as our souls reach out

And begin to fly,

Unity in diversity,

Is now our battle cry.

Together we stride forward,

Don’t stop, never.

Into the darkened future.

Onward, together."

"Five fingers in a hand
Do they follow their commands?
To the needy on the streets, one extends
The spilled groceries on the road, two amends
Three is there for a struggling friend
Four treats tenderly a neighbor, who on you depends
Five together, they seek opportunity
To bridge the gap between you and me
And foster a land of unity.
Only by helping others, can we understand,
Why we have five fingers in a hand."

"Snowflake branch

In an avalanche

It all looks the same when you flee

But if you stop and see

The difference

The beauty is there to behold

If you only do what you're told

By turning away

And looking disgusted

Your vision will go rusted

Because the balm of the eyes

If you'll only realize

Is a cream of culture and skins

So stop looking within

And begin

To smell the spice of saffron

To laugh with hues of brown

To meet black with a smile, not frown

To wear new teachings like a crown

Shake away the perception

That unique is but a deception

Every colour has worth

They all

Make the skin of this earth"

"We are like flowers in a field.
Storms make us reel,
Our hard woven roots unfold
We lose petals of comfort
Leaves of support
And stems of self worth
We are struck
Then regrow.
We are like flowers in a field
The seasons make us kneel
To the alien weathers of the world
We brave the new and unnatural
As we turn towards the sun
The heat does wrinkle some
Our loss is shaded under trees as
Petals unfold.
We are like flowers in a field
Within the circle of life
We are prey to shadows of night
And the still day hides
Dangers that lie inside
But growing in earth, we do not leave
Root to root under trees
Together our beauty far outshines
The life of a single weed.
The music of life drops with our seeds
One is delicate, but together can build a shield
We are like flowers in a field."

"It amazes me
How different people can be
It angers me
How heartless actions can be
The discrimination
The hate the racism
It all brings nothing good
The black becomes white
And the white becomes black
The thin becomes fat
And the fat becomes thin
They all wear a mask
They must hide at all cost
Cant you see the
Ocean of tears
It lies in the eyes
True beauty it holds
Can we just dive deep
Just to embrace little things
That completes Who you truly are
The imperfections
Its the garnish to the dish
Just embrace and keep loving
Cause the short cant become tall
Nor can the tall become short
So lets accept whats around us
Because we do need different
Different to become better"

Yet we all can be together
Why all the hate?
When love is way better

To become complete
We all need each other

"A time for change'

Nothing in life is ever just black and white

Our televisions are now in colour, and have been for decades

When shopping, we choose from a variety of options.

A range of colours

Clothes, furniture, health and skincare

All exported from across the globe

Nature itself

So many flowers in a garden

Ranging heights of the trees

Everywhere we go, we can see, the diversity of life

Yet we refuse to accept the differences within others

For how long will we preach equality and practice injustice

When claiming to have humanity ?
'A beautiful land'

You are a lily
Different from me

And I am a pine cone
Falling from a tree

You are delicate
With a scent so intricate

And I am rough
Having an outer that is tough

But still we can be found
In the same garden, or ground

Are of the same kind
For those who have plants in mind

Even if we are not identical
Together, we make this land beautiful."

"‘Lost’
Everyone loves the flowers
Their soft petals and alluring smell
Attract all

But what about the bees?
That come to do their duty; pollinating
Why do we hide, afraid of their stinging?

Instead of hiding, we should embrace what is
Different
As that is what makes us unique
For similarities can be found
If we are willing to look and see

Because without the bee
The flower would not be
And without you, where would I be?"

"No one should be alone you see,

A human works just like a bee.

Together we make up a network,

Each one of us having a quirk.

If even one turns into a traitor,

No enemy can truly be greater.

But if we stay united within,

Then we can surely win.

So please be true and pure of heart,

For humans being loyal, is an art."

"Colours are beautiful aren't they?

Especially together when you spray.

Any gray wall it can enhance,

You can almost watch them dance!

Just like that we humans too,

We're just a colorful view.

Each one different from the rest,

Being ourselves is truly the best.

No matter how we look or talk or act,

We are all worth loving, its a fact."

"You see chai cannot only be a bean,

It needs water, sugar, and to be steamed.

Each human comes in a different form,

Why forced to change to fit in the norm?

When you know we can do so much more,

By working on what is in our core.

Just look in the mirror and love what you see,

And be kind to others too, that's a plea."

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_custom_heading text="Voice of the Poets" font_container="tag:h5|text_align:left"][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section tab_id="1601458092824-2c8410df-e57d" title="Unity in Diversity"][vc_column_text]

"What is unity?" they asked the poets

'Unity!' mumbled Ad, 'thing of harmony'

"But if we are so diverse, how can we be in harmony?" To hear this, Cacti was excited

And replied 'we are different, yet our hearts can be united'

Perhaps we were being too simple, so Hana decided to use metaphors

'Like a rainbow filling the sky, its different colours together, brightening the world

created from one light...refracting into thousands more'

That is what we are like, Titania continued, together even when apart...

'Humans are all different art, but the same at heart'

...It is only when you look towards more than just the differences, that you see

Aamna uttered 'a thousand faces make a sea, where all creations are free to be'

And, united as birds of a feather

Beardad declared 'Our differences meld together, increasing our power forever'

Even Smiley Sir agreed, no matter how similar or different we may be, woman or man,

'United we stand, learning from differences at hand, to become the best Nurizen we can'

Finally, Car conveyed 'As we shine with unity, know that we are held together through diversity' conveyed Car

Whether we be close or far...

It is not only our similarities that make us one, but also our diversity

That brings us together, with this, I finally concluded, '...that is unity!'"

"Unified

Unified no matter the time
We can hear it loud and clear, the chime
Don't worry about the tough path ahead
Even if there will be many tears we must shed
Join hands and hold the torch of light
Stick together and show off our might
With unity, we can show what is right
We will not back down from the fight"

"Diversified

Diversity, the core strength of our hearts
Piercing the darkness like heated darts
They try to make us think our diversified power is a liability
But the truth is, they are blind to such a wonderful reality
Instead of focusing on the the bad in each others souls
Why not pull out the good and use it to plug the holes
So come forth, embrace the differences that make us who we are
Share with the world and show them that we are no broken car; indeed we will go far"

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_column_text]

Nurizen Slayer:

"Unified and Diversified

As I dive into the sea that is university
I can truly experience the vast diversity
But at the same time, all are students, all are unified
One and the same, struggling through exams until we've all cried
Yet all different in their own unique way
That is the beauty of being human everyday
So why can't others understand? It's much more logicial to just join hands
This rings true not only in school, but in every aspect of life, so don't sit there watching in the stands"
